Friday tomato update and Spam sandwich

Been out of town and the tomatoes have been growing and needing a lot of water. We have not had a good rain and we could use one. A few spot showers are not like a good soak. Now we do not need ones that cause floods. I don't think I can remember when I have heard about so many floods and tornadoes. Maybe its just that we have more news outlets. But back to the tomatoes. We are still getting a few from the farmers market and they are good. We are bad as we both like spam. Now we know that is probably not a good food choice but we don't eat it every day ans we like it better than bacon for a tomato sandwich. We slice it thin and fry it and pair it with a tomato with Greek or Creole seasonings we also had some of the cilantro and lime mayo that gave it a kick.

Hello Will!

I recently discovered your blog, and i have to say, i love you and your wife's cooking style!
Also, love the pics of the "babies" ..hehehe
I also love cooking and eating, but sometimes we eat "out" more than "in", seeing your blog made me want to start cooking in more often.
I will try your recipes as they come in!

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Keri I'm no expert on the Tomatoes but what are they doing? The main thing is they need losts of water at least 2 gallons a day.

This is the first time I have ever met anyone else who likes fried spam! I have eaten grilled or fried spam and cheese sandwiches most of my life and most people think I am weird. Its delicious! Finally, vindication!

Thank you.

Great blog!

I grow my own tomatoes too but your's are quite a bit further ahead than mine. I have a much shorter growing season and start all mine indoors in the winter.

This sounds like something my hubby would like. Haven't bought Spam in at least 25 years! Not even sure where it would be in the super market, but I'm going to look. (JapaneseRedneck sent me to your blog.)

I haven't had spam either since I was a kid. It seemed to be a fishing food for us when we were on the rocks up at the REZ. We had to catch bream for bait for my father at the spillway.

May have to give it a try and see if I like it again.

we have Spam stocked in the pantry. Did eat it more as a kid growing up. We really only eat in in the summer with our tomatoes. Yumm. It may be an aquired taste but give it a try. Can't belive you wasted on bait.
